Hi everyone!
I made it to Denver ok...but it's bitersweet being here..
While we were waiting in line to check in at heathrow airport, with my cat, he had a freak-out and went into shock...this lead to a stroke and heart attack. It all happened so quickly, that by the time I had opened the box to get him out he was already limp. My friend ran to get the airport vet while I gave him cpr and massaged his heart...but it was too late.
The vet said it was very very rare for a cat so young (6) and healthy to have this happen...but it did...and I spent most of the 9 hour flight crying.
I haven't just lost a cat - anyone that knew me and him knew how much more he was that a cat...he has been a constant source of happiness for 6 years - through shit and shine he was always there to cheer me up. I feel like I have lost a best friend and am just utterly devastated.
But I am here...with my wife and other cat (who refuses to recognise me) for the first time in 5 weeks, and there is 6 inches of the white stuff all around....I just wish Nico was here to share it...he would have loved it here...

Sorry to hear that man, I lost my cat two years ago, he was 19 years old when he died, it was like the door slamming shut on my childhood. I share your feelin' cos I was seven when we got him and he was there everyday rain or shine. First real family member I have lost.

congrats mate. you've discussed this many times here. I think it will take you a little while to adjust to the American lifestyle, you should be able to get a healthy dose of home through the BBC channels and Sky Sports.

That's terrible mate sorry to hear that. A new kitten might be the only solution and if you ever have to travel with pets you should get valium from the vet.
My Sympathies.

that's so sad. it reminds me of when my cat (milly) died in my arms... not a nice things to see. :_(
mind you, she was senile for a couple of years before that, bless 'er. she used to jump onto my window sill and stare blankly at me for upto an hour, twitching... it used to scare the shit out of me.
lots of hugs etc etc.
