"I've mentioned the need for useability and a consideration of users."
... sad primitive ideas.
Google is one thing and 2 advanced is another. These 2 websites don't have the same purpose.
Personnaly, I love the ones who see things differently. You can disagree with them but these guys have contributed to push the internet forward. Google and Jakob Nielsen didn't, in terms of visual experience i mean. (Don't get me wrong, i love google).
"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the one' s who do". Think different, look forward. That's why i love what Apple has accomplished in the computer industry, and that's why i love what companies like 2 advanced have accomplished for the internet.

Yeah sure, Id love to see your work. mrlerone. URL please.
In the meantime I go back designing 2for1 pizza flyers thank-you-very-much.
- mrlerone0
But 2AD aren't "thinking differently", they're just thinking "lets press a fuck load of buttons". They're barely thinking at all...
Do you really hold this assault on the eyes as an example of different thinking? Perhaps their thinking was to confuse the user. In which case they have succeeded admirably.
I've got nothing wrong with thinking. I enjoy it. That company is shit, and I stand by that statement. If they are still making money in five years time I'll be amazed.
Anyway, according to their apolalyptic future aesthetic, it all looks quite scary in the future.
Does this company win awards? Who awards them? Other Flash Illustrators amazed that you can get type THAT small and use THAT many layers, or *proper* designers who "think differently". and if someone suggests I go to their site to see their awards I asure you that using this messageboards is a much more straightforward method.

2AD has their own nichie market.
Nothing wrong with that. They are good at what they do, and serving the people who want it.
If its not them, than its someone else, let the boy make is cash.

"I heard they have Fast and the Furious style Civic races after work."
haha, can someone confirm this?
- meok0
So mrlerone.. are you gonna show me your stuff or not? Cause with all that talk I have high expectations. Or are you just a critic?
- lj0
yes, could be cool to see mrlerone' s work. It must be something.
I've switched my resolution to 800/600, 256 colors and my adsl modem to a 56k. I'm ready, send the url.

Its a great (and yet again) old misconception that Faslh sites take a long time to load.

Did you google my name?
Well done you big ol' stalker. What colour pants am I wearing today?
Anyway, I'm sorry that my site is just a load of ramblings and badly laid out gifs. I'm in the middle of making it consistent, and for it to have almost no graphic elements (apart for things like "work" and "photos*).
But if you can find your way through to the work, there are some things I did at college in a Flash movie. Again, apologies for the needless use of Flash.

something to put in your blog anyway

^@fate ... rad.
oh, 2advanced is hiring, BTW.
- meok0
mrlerone, once I figured out how to get there, I liked the print work in your graduate portfolio thing.
- mrlerone0
Thanks.
It's going to have a seperate link to proper things once I get myself sorted out.
- JamesEngage0
sort it aat!
Thanks for mentioning Bodysong by the way :)
- mrlerone0
That's an amaaaaaaazing film. And I mentioned the site at work too! Proper nice that it helps as reference to the every (?) shot in the film. Very useful.

mrlerone - the way you paint a picture every movie releases should be a documentary full of boring factual information.
Figures a print guy doesn't like flash. Thats a new concept.
- mrlerone0
I work at Digit London. And I design websites. I call it "multi-skilled". You shouldn't aproach a project with your first consideration being it's output... good ideas transfer across all mediums. Good design is good design regardless.
That film was really great! It was more of an art film than documentary in my opinion. It brought many a tear to my eye that movie. The information wasn't factual, it was newfootage mixed with home videos and many different kinds. I thought it were aces.
