You like anything with balls, don't you Monty?

I think the first is best...all the others I've seen before. Your first one is interesting. Makes you want to know what the company does...

Just now saw the revisons....getting better. The last one is best.

1 is the magic number. i don't like the dotted lines so-oo much.

First option > View Variations > Second from the bottom.
Best.

if you do go with option one, you may want to think a little about the cost of actually implementing a new, five colour logo throughout an existing business (print material wise i mean) before making your presentaion.

i have to disagree about the use line. i find the variation without the line far more visually interesting, dynamic, and unique than the other. the dots connected by the line automatically says "molecule" or "dna", which may seem appropriate for a scientific company, but is also a really predictable design. push the one with out the line. it's much stronger.
nice work though

agree with eggnog, no lines is better

Great input - thanks so much - I'm going to present these in the morning so I'll keep you posted.

agree with comments about showing them very few options, giving the client too many options isn't a good idea. they hired YOU cause that's what YOU'RE good at, never present a logo to a client that you don't like. there's always going to be one that you think is the best, but even your least favorite should still be a good solution.
your type is looking good, much better than the first round of choices.

I gotta say that I kinda like the first one. It has alot of animation potential, then again, they all do. Your explanations are pretty smart too, but be careful - sometimes shit doesn't make any sense at all, it just looks good. youknowwhutimean? But I guess one could bullshit one's way out of anything - thus the critique. You spent less than 5 minutes on the piece of shit in front of the class, yet you have to defend it. The night before you boned that fat chick on the other side of the dorm, and she actually had the nerve to diss YOU the next day! What the hell?

I like #1 the best. Nice job.

I presented the logo's this morning and it went really well. Thanks for all the great suggestions and feedback. I brought in a number of your comments and it really added to the whole presentation. It was a combination of Marketing/ Programming/ and Math folks and having some feedback from my peers really pleased the math guys.
Here is the logo after their requested revisions: http://www.absolutenorth.net/cli…
Thanks again.

Haven't read all the replies... but I love the first one, in the colors... best logo I've seen for ages... Yuo could use some ligatures but that may spoil the use of the dots... i.e if the r and i were together?
The dots would work seperately on their own too...
- nosaj0
Thanks for the kind word. I ended up using a ligature (f & i) in the revised draft after meeting with the client this morning.

read with horror the idea to leave one of your worst ones in... don't want to ever do that... why show bad work? It may backfire on you...
Glad I guessed about the ligatures... cool! Mind reader
