i cannot believe this, i just ditched FontBook, Apple's worst piece of software..
and now this.
i am seriously losing my religion.
fuckers.

gabriel, I thought the same thing today. Sometimes El Reg goes out of its way to complain about things. I'm sure those kids are getting some cash for this.
- rasko40
ah come on.. those kids will be the coolest in school!
- gabriel_pc0
I'm guessing it's some kind of settlement deal.

The_Man remembers how many times on this board 4cY asked for and/or took copyrighted things on this board from users.

no, to me the point is that these ads have a fairly negative feel, this can't be good or effective.
and Green Day were never 'punk' in any way.. imo.
i applaud constructive creative optimistic campaigns to educate.
spreading fear by media is an unfortunate inherent quality of American marketing which I despise.
i am sorry.

I bet its all bullshit.
Another smart RIAA move to make us think these kids actually got caught.
I bet the real scenario is: They picked out a couple of kids, asked them to play copyright violators in a commercial and gave them say, an iPod for it.
This is SO much fucking bullshit it's riCOCKulus, you're not even responsible for your own actions at that age, in sense that your cases fall on your parents when you get caught. Give me a fucking break and give me realistic actions against the violators instead. Go after the big bitches, the ones who are distributing and selling thousands of illegal shit every day.

the_man, i have never once asked any of the things you claimed.
i advise you to back up your accusations with some serious evidence.
- jox0
what the fuck are you on about the_man?

oh and btw.
from now on i refuse to go in any debate with people who use nics without their real name or any valid website or email account.
it's pointless to talk to anonymous cowards.

You fuckin tool, go away

I'm curious as to how using fear in ads is automatically an American trend? I was of the impression that it's more of a giant corporation trend.

hah, jox. relax.

everyone, and i repeat, everyone on this board has been guilty of copyright violations at least once in their lives..
yes, i'll get some mp3's to listen what the artist is about, and when i truly dig it i will buy the album (no d/l buy, i love cd-cases, esp. well designed).
the point in my first post was that portraying children like criminals is a little out of proportions.
the AppleStore idea was a good move, now it is time for them to make the next step;
but please let it be one that uses a constructive solid concept.
to me this campaign is just hollywood-esque sadness..
- rasko40
I just saw the ads.. that girl has a wierd accent, its like shes an english girl putting on a american accent..
