Cheeze-ez! So it's murder if you just kill a man, but if you a) Kill him, then b) eat him - it's manslaughter?

The guy asked to be killed. Infact, he was still semi-cosncious when they chopped his pecker off and decided to fry it up and eat it together.

i don't know where most of you guys / girls are from but in most european countries the sentences are a lot shorter than let's say in the us. e.g. a life sentence in europe isn't for life. i think in holland life is 15 yrs max. prolly the same in germany (not sure) and in most cases of a "life sentence" it has been known to be shorter. and yep, don't know why they call it for life as well. or maybe people don't really get old on the continent ;)

Seriously though, the guy did ask to be killled. Germany has laws governing 'aiding a suicide'..that is what he was tried on...did he simply aid in a suicide or was there more criminal intent.
I suppose all you americans will have a hard time with this sentence, considering you lethal inject someone for jaywalking. ;-)

we got like 12 years for life. And you're out after only 8 years with parole.
Yeah, and that's why the guy who stabbed our foreign minister to death has gone through some psyco evaluation and is free again in 2 years! TWO YEARS! They would execute him in some countries for that but we just release him again thinking "yeah well.. what the heck"

well i can understand the "aiding a suicide" bit. but most people who do that are not going to cut up the body and eat it.

Look, I am not justifying what he did here.
But he advertised for people that he could kill and eat. He got alot of responses..and nearly went through with it a couple of times but the poeple pulled out at the last minute.
The guy he ended up munching, went the whole hog. They even video taped it. As far as I can tell, there is some dispute about if the victim withdrew consent during the whole ordeal. Hence why it went to trial and apprently (cause he was found guilty) he did withdraw consent.
The fact that he ate him has no bearing on it, as there ae no cannibalism laws that he can be tried on.
