hi everyone, i have this videography class and wanted to ask for your input on what you would think make a good story for a movie...sothing that you would watch and think how funny...this makes me think of something that happened to me...or sonething funny, dramatic, mystery or anything that comes to your mind at first if you were to make a digital video on a small budjet......please help

if i gave you all my sick movie ideas, how am i gonna get to hollywood...
i'd be seth green in that movie where he swears his college roomate stole his idea for a music download site... while he was napping... hence the name!
if you want me to post some sick films i use for inspiration, its all good.

watch swingers and made. one after another.
jon favro wrote, directed and starred in both flicks. swingers is loosely based on his life story, him and vince worked on it for a year before moving to hollywood with the script to pitch... it took another year to get it made, but when you see it, you will realize a story can be simple, executed well and end up a cult classic.
made is almost swingers part deux. pure jokes, effortless and worth every moment of your time.
past that, i'm a photographer so for pure cinematography, BARAKA.

it took me 9 months to learn how to write good screenplays. i mean come on do you really think that someone will give you an idea and you will think "it's briliant! noone has ever done it!"
Basic plot of every movie you've seen.
Something happens to the hero and he/she goes on a quest to resolve the problem. We are watching as he/she strugles.

i think it would be great to see more american film, and in this case just more emerging filmmakers, explore and deal with the subtleties of the human spirit, human neurosis, - just the fumbling introspection that we all go through - self actualization -
i think a humanization of film in general would be great - seems like so many people enjoy film as a fantastical escape, but it seems that this is so because this allows them to self-medicate in a way
why not challenge the filmgoer more with themes that make us feel more comfortable with the anxieties and struggles and coming of age trials we all go through
but not in that really over the top voyeuristic kind of way that is suffocating our current tv and film aesthetics...........

As long as you respect teh viewer. It goes both ways. Many Hollywood movies don't respect the viwer by assuming that people are stupider then they are. Same goes for the art movies as by "humanizing" the character they try to tell the viwer something as if the viwer didn't know that already.
Also by saying "hero" i meant the story's character (not necessary Rambo) and by "quest" i meant his strugle to accomplish his goals.
