yeah chris - good points - for that money go used on board and bindings and get some ace boots....

i'm with you... i was planning on getting used gear.
i just rented a K2 board with Rossingol step-in bindings at Northstar (Tahoe, CA), and they rocked. was glad i didn't borrow my buddy's board.
the step-ins didn't get icy because it was the kind with the frankenstein spokes out the sides of the boots.

so now the obvious question is where to get the best deal?
i'm looking to buy within a month.
i'll be ridin' freshies at Copper & Aspen in 2 weeks, but i'll get to try out the top demos there, so i don't need a board before then.
But i'd like to have a full set-up before end of February for my Mammoth trip.

this thread has been brought up a ton. I rode from 1990 until about '95 when I left the US for a while. I rode a Burton (Jeff) Brushie pipe board, Santa Cruz carver, Morrow carver, and various other demos and shit. I would have to say that these days I am out of the loop. However, it's like riding a bike, you never really forget how to grind and carve those turns. Then again it depends on the terrain. Here in W. PA the Appalachias suck and the snow is fake. :(

I feel your pain JazX, Appalachians are horrid. Where in PA do you ride? I use to live near the Wisp in MD and would also hit up Seven Spring in PA a lot.

Like the others have said, dump the clip-ins, they're inferior bindings and you only see them at rental places.
What I ride: Sims FR750 Brian Thien pro model, Preston LS bindings, DC Phantom 2 boots.
Don't skimp out and get a shitty board, bindings, or boots. Boots especially, or you will get blisters, cold toes, or just generally be uncomfortable which can make for a bad day of riding.

Yuk, those Switch ones look awful, if you do have to have step-ins at least make sure you get some with highbacks (any of the other Switch bindings).

good prices, package deals, pretty good quality. ditch the step-ins. unless your a fruit-booter in the off season.

I rode from these guys: http://www.morrowsnowboards.com/…http://www.ridesnowboards.com/http://www.scskate.com/snow/inde… and http://www.burton.com but I also like http://www.joyride.com/snowboard… joyrides.

Seriously man, Step-Ins are for wangstas. Strap in bindings are so much better for control and stance. Clip in boots suck ass. Check out http://www.capitolboardroom.com
For boots, check out Northwaves, they rock. super comfortable. I've ridden, 32s, Vans, and Burton boots and the Northwaves are so much better.

I got a Ride Timeless 157, Burton shoes and Drake bindings. Works for me.
If you don't like strap-ons you should look for Flow bindings. They got a bit different and very original design. There is a good word out for them.
- globeriding0
hey.
i work in a board shop...
take a look at ride or drake for bindings, salomon, ride or option for your boards, and northwave, salomon or maybe burton for your boots. burton are way overpriced though in my opinion- over here in the UK anyway.

flow bindings?...oh man i don't whats worse flow or step-ins.
flow bindings are for lazy people with all thumbs who can't do up a strap with gloves on.
i have a buddy who was approached by flow to ride their boards...once he found out he would have to rock their bindings too he told them to skate...I don't blame him.
I've got a pair of burton freestyle bindings with burton custom straps i'll fire sale to ya for 50 bucks.
took a core shot to my forum last week...blackcomb mtn claims another deck of mine...see if i can beat my score of destroying 3 decks from last season...glad i don't have pay for em.

xrusos are you in Chicago? If you are I have a ride freeride 156 board I could sell you for $100. And you need to get good ass boots, I dropped some cash on my boots and had some friends that took the cheap route and landed up buying new boots at the resort. Step ins do suck, just think about getting out of a gondola in a major dump trying to put on step ins in a foot of snow *YIKES* spend the cash in this order BOOTS•BINDINGS•BOARD•BOOZE and you should have a good time
