BUY AN APPLE
- tfs__mag0
buy a mac...
sorry, couldn't resist. if i were forced to choose between those two, i'd probably go with the vaio.
- shellie0
im NOT BUYING A MAC BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD ONE.
With that said, why the vaio? what makes it better?
- tfs__mag0
I've just heard that they're more geared towards media applications. I really don't know that much about them. Just second hand stuff from others.
- abizzyman0
if you want solid customer support - a guarantee of craftsmanship (and an easy replacement if something goes wrong)...
go with Dell.
If you're STUPID and want to buy a computer for looks - buy the Vaio... or a mac... oh wait - Apple.
- tfs__mag0
ummm so are you saying only stupid people buy macs?
i'd say you're the stupid one if that's what you really think.
- abizzyman0
make sure you get the 128 meg video card - at least 1 gig of Ram and 2.6 ghz processor or above... and you're solid - you can get all these features with either vaio or dell...
... but dell will take care of you.
Also ask and make sure that you have at least one USB 2.0 port and a 1394 firewire port.. and you're solid.
... you may want to even look into a Toshiba - their 'standard' components outdo a number 'upgrade' components for sony and dell for that matter.
dell will probably be your best bet for price though.
cheers and happy shopping

thanks for the suggestions.
my computer at home is really really really old and just cant keep up anymore so it'll probably be my main computer... but i go snowboarding almost every weekend or go kinda far away to see my family so i was thinking its time for me to get something portable.
thanks for helping.. i have no idea what im doing.

best notebooks out there...best price.. and most power...
just upgrade the HD to a 7200 rpm and get 1 gig of ram
Powernotebooks has the best supoort and service out there also.
cant go wrong with this
- abizzyman0
no... i'm not saying Stupid people buy macs.. i'm saying you're stupid if you buy a mac.
... there's a difference - :)
... just my opinion man - this debate will go on and on and on --
I'd never of even said it if you guys couldn't take the girl seriously and leave the mac out of the thread...
but to foolishly add to your shenanigans - I felt I must do my duty of bad-mouthing the mac.
tfs_mag - we'll always agree on Mylla - and that's all that really matters, right?
I love you.... I love all of you. (and I work on a mac allllllll the live long day - I'm typing this on my mac right now)

The sony seems a little more portable. Which is a big factor, most Dell notebooks are heavy plastic bricks. Plus there's sony service centers all over, right?
- abizzyman0
wow Don - there's some lovely prices there. (bookmarked)
Shellie:
- look for 2.5 ghz or above
- 1 gig Ram or above
- at least 1 USB 2.0 Port
- at least 1 1394 Port
- P4 or comparitive Athlon Chip
- 128 meg Video Card... I wouldn't worry about Intel's new Wireless capable chip - just go with the P4 and buy a wireless PCMCIA card (not much in cost diff)... your machine will perform better.
Screen resolution is up to you... but will be enhanced by a 128 meg video card... which is a must.
again - happy shopping.

Go with the Dell, I've had mine for a couple years without any problems. The Sony's are overpriced.
- abizzyman0
milla... yes... milla.
- meok0
Go Viao. If you're into a decent powered but really stylish notebook.
Go Dell, If you're into performance and probably the best screen out there. (WUXGA)
