Nice site old chap, very stylish. I agree about the text though. Well maybe not a serif but the black text you're using is pretty blurry.
I'm also not keen on the faded iamge behind the portfolio pictures.And while i'm at it, not keen on the buttons that say Set One, Two etc. They looked like a bit of an after thought. Couldn't see the alt tag esque feature.

Write Set One , not Set 1. and use the name style as the navigation buttons i'd suggest.

just my 2 cents here:
have you considered disabling the nav buttons when you are in the corresponding section...you could just put a simple ( fooMC.enabled = false from _root when you are "in" a section and then fooMC.enabled = true when you are "out" of a section) on the respective buttonMC - i think that makes things more intuitive on a site
also, why the fade up and out of the nav to just have it come right back down into place...me thinks it could just stay put

versa...thanks for your comments - like your idea about disabling the buttons. I like to fade them in and out so that people can see they are exiting and entering a new section though....
