Anyone have an idea what to charge for a 32 pg magazine? It's a great opportunity, but i think i bid too low. Tanks.

huh? what do you mean, like printing your own mag and covering your costs?
- BonSeff0
err sorry, you mean designing it eh? hehe. depends on the distribution i think, and the quality of the mag

what kinda mag is it?

Yeah i just mean designing it, not printing. It's a local art and literary magazine.

anyone??

is the person printing/producing the mag charging for ads? whats the distribution? will you produce the ads as well as layout? if not, what is the content like? lots of text? lots of photos? will you be resizing and color correcting the photos? what kind of paper is it going to be printed on? is it 4 color or less/more? will you be attending press checks? or is it produced off a xerox machine? etc
these are the kind of answers needed for a good quote/bid
did you get these specs?
just curious

they are charging for ads. Some have been designed. It's four-color, I'm sure I will adjust some photos and I am free to design mag as I want. Distribution I'm not so sure. Probably both text and photos. I may attend press checks. I want the job. The mag would be a good piece for my port. thanks. Chorizo :)

I will design some ads

well ok, lets see..
32 pages, so thats 16 reader spreads (tabloid). so i would figure 2 hours per page for layout
64 hours. (assuming you had all content up front)+ time per ad you have to design
say like 7 ads@2 hours per ad- quick and dirty style
i would add 1/4th of the time for revisions
and 20 mins for each photo you resize and correct.
i would say round 90 hours not including press checks
multiplied by whatever hourly rate you chargeits hard to say. get familiar with the cient and get the specs.
get the gig!best of luck
