Which computer is best for After effects rendering and why?
- wendell0
here is a fun one!
i use a old G3 (of apple) at my job, also a Dell for rendering.
carten that worked together with me last year, took out a sticker with WEN on it. it was funny and he put along my Dell(before it) Now it stands: WEN(from the printer)DELL. i still have it. and carsten is not here either!!!

Are you saying you use both? A MAC and PC to render in AF. Sorry I don't follow.
Anyone else have an idea which Dell would be better for after effects stuff

look the more a computer costs the better it is, the better it will cope with processing tasks.

not true in this case one processor 800mhz bus speed ~vs~ dual at 533 mhz bus speed?
I thought better bus speed was faster

all three would do the trick. main thing to look for is the fast SCSI drives and lots of RAM. obviously two processors would be good but not a must.

and i am not sure if AfterEffects takes advantage of the dual processor. I don't know if this true nowadays but I used to consider dual processor on a PC a waste of money unless you are working with high-end 3D stuff.

you are right AF doesnt recognise a dual prcessor, you would be better of with 2 of the biggest harddrives you can afford...
I have 3x 120 gig in my Dell

can anyone confirm if PCs will use the dual processors with AE
