I was asking some questions yesterday but I still need some help. I'm wanting to upgrade to a new cpu for creating After Effects projects only. I'm looking for a good PC for doing just that. Let's say I can max out the RAM on either cpu I buy but what about bus speeds and processors how makes the best setup? DELL, HP, Gateway, and why??

I think the same old adage applies as always...get the fastest CPU, most RAM and acres of disk space -
maxing out the RAM is good coz AE works nicely doing ram previews, but getting the material into ram is obviously from the HD so,
getting the fastest drives you can also helps (dont have to be setup as raids but if you can afford them its nice..)...
partion all your drives for footage, projects and scratch material....
if you dont work at 16x12 yet, start thinking about it coz that timeline with loads of layers gets pretty hairy sometimes, and
needless to say get a fast gfx card
hope that helps.....also, doesnt really matter who makes the PC but try to stay away from Sony's just because they seem to always feature in last place (just about) when it comes to 'performance' reviews....
your mileage may vary :-)

So which is better a single processor with better bus speed or a dual processor with a slower bus speed?
(dual)3.0 ghz processor and only 533 Mhz bus speed, ram maxed.
Or
Single 3.0 ghz processor and 800 mhz bus speed, ram maxed.
