[some] religion is a farse to distract the attention of the herd.
900 years of history taught us that.
&
Peter was never in Rome.
The Church was/is the perpetuation of Rome's power by other means.

not yet pascii. it's 40% complete!
vespa. i'm sorry, the lemmings comment was uncalled for. i'm only human and say stupid things like others. i just really dislike hatred and prejudice...

Ecclesiastes 1:9-14 NIV) What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

I see a connection between religious followers and starTrek fans. Devotion to the imaginary. Maybe its just me.

oh, let go that religiontalk!
- mitsu0
i apologize to you to lou. i can't say that i agree with even 70% of the things you say, but i should still accept you for who you are.
i think i'll continue to only hold discussion on NT within the context of design. :)
- vespa0
cmon nothing wrong with a bit of heated discussion. gets people thinking about what they believe.
are you very religious mitsu? sorry if i've offended you.
- mitsu0
"are you very religious mitsu? sorry if i've offended you. "
no offense taken. and i'm not religious at all! :) i believe that there is a god, but that's the extent. i just think people focus too much on differences (things they don't understand about one another) and make judgements based on their limited understanding rather than finding common ground... it creates these huge divisions between cultures and religions... and hatred always winds up being the result.
- Mimio0
I always thought it was weird making beliefs/ideas about supernatural unobservable things sacred. I mean, what could be more arrogant?
- r_gaberz0
stop that religion shit... it never goes anywhere... just like trying to convince a gay that he is straight.
btw... has anybody seen this Queer eye for the straight guy show on bravo..... *lol*
- vespa0
"people focus too much on differences" that's so true.
But i think it's often religious leaders who do this, and often for political gain. Like why are there so many divisions within Christianity? With minute differences between their beliefs?
- Mimio0
Vespa,
It's because religion as a practice can stagnate. So to create othodoxy, restore radicality or ferver religious leaders make the faith more exclusive bonding the members closer together while forcing the "other". Making those that disagree with them morally corrupt. It's a time honored tradition.

im waiting for congress to pass the single hetero tax break bill
- Mimio0
Bonseff,
You're living in it. People who are married are basically penaliszed for no reason.
- Fade2Grey0
Anybody know a wedding planner?
- Mimio0
A gay one?

If they allow homosexuals to marriage, soon they'll allow Mexicans to come here and work....legally. What is this country becoming?
Just joking, I'm Mexican :)

"Like why are there so many divisions within Christianity? With minute differences between their beliefs?"
simple, christianity is comprised of imperfect humans. each who wish to believe in their own way. they find others that agree with what them and then split one day when someone finds a... you guessed it... difference in belief. there's a religion for almost any combination of beliefs you could conjure up. i'm sure i've heard of one that believes peanut butter and jelly is the devil, while peanut butter and pickles better fits the new WWJD paradigm.
this is why i don't judge religion based on the members that it's comprised of. it's pointless as many of them have their own skewered beliefs that originated who knows when.

ah thats right, the tax break comes with having children.
ok, how about a single childless tax break
