it's fine to mock religion because people have a choice about that. we don't have a choice about our sexuality though. you understand? do you see? do you get that? Hmm? yes?
- ********0
uhh, many people have no choice of religion. it's either indoctrinated from birth through forced feeding of wonderbread and plasma milk or through poison dipped spears thrown at the welfare line. or, worse, hiding in the blankets of charity.....
- vespa0
true that loudubs. and sometimes it's an inextricable part of cultural identity.
- mirola0
just because you are indoctrinated into a religion doesn't necessarily mean you *chose it .
- mitsu0
in either instance you have a choice. if i don't believe in the religion i was raised in, no further actions are required. i simply don't believe. i see it happen all the time. same with sexual preference. with sexual preference it's a decision between what you feel and what you believe.
and who are you to mock any culture or religion? in the whole scheme of things, the fact that others agree with your simple-minded point of view doesn't justify your hatred.
and don't give me the 'it's my right' speech. that's an easy cop-out.
- vespa0
who are you shouting at mitsu?
- mitsu0
the ceiling. it's more open minded than the lot of you.
and i'm not shouting :)
- ********0
shouting at itself....
look, it's everyone's right to choose ignorance over knowledge, science over religion......but religion, by definition, relies on strife, suffering,
religion an insecurity fishing derby, preying on the weak and empty.
mental health and disciplines like buddhism can help alleviate the inevitable suffering of daily existence without the fabled dichotomy of guilt and pleasure.
- vespa0
wow i was just thinking that the other day - the only religion that i don't secretly distrust is buddhism. i can't find any fault with it. maybe i don't know enough about it.
- ********0
it's not a religion so much as a philosophy fitted to everyday life
- mitsu0
lou, that's just your perception.
and congrats on your pied piper effect. you've got a herd of lemmings following close behind you strung together by your silly thesaurus-derived ramblings.
- vespa0
are you calling me a lemming mitsu? who is spreading the hate now? or am i missing some history between you two?
- ********0
no, it's just your perception....the world is yours
i also don't like people following me, so i'll just step aside and let the mitsu-perceived "followers" step ahead of me.
- mitsu0
i don't hate any of you :)
what bothers me is your judgement on and toward other religions/cultures/and people based on your lack of understanding.
apologies, text is a very difficult medium of communication for me.
- mirola0
so stop.
- mitsu0
i think i will, thanks. :)
- pascii0
hey mitsu, btw, do you have a portfoliosite up?
- vespa0
i aint following you oudubs, just happen to agree on a few things, geeeez!
everything we think has been thought before. i'm reading plato's "the last days of socrates" at the moment (please don't think i'm telling you this to try and give a false impression of being clever) and the dialogues in that are these questions exactly, and that was 430 BC
