how do I record sound as midi?

Isn't midi only what you record off your keyboard?
Ask some of the music guys here, I'm sure they'll know better.

How do you save bitmap as vector?

Musical Instrument Digital Interface, an industry-standard interface used on electronic musical keyboards and PCs for computer control of musical instruments and devices.

Quicktime Pro allows one to convert files into .mid.
On OS X you can simple convert it by changing the file extention to .mid.

you don't really record sounds as MIDI. Through the years people have come to know certain sounds as sounding like MIDI produced sounds, however, with that being said MIDI doesn't sound like anything. You can use it to trigger instruments in soft synths and such. Tons of electronic bands have been utilizing MIDI dating way back.

yeah, but what do I use to record it? I only have manage to record .wav so far.
I know it all sounds stupid, but you got to start somewhere.

any .mid file is a MIDI file. If a soft synth or software in general is able to import .mid then you are in business. One of my favourite things to do is import a MIDI (.mid) files into a soft synth like Reason or Orion and the like and then the sequencer area seperates the MIDI file into tracks and then you can replace the original instruments with new ones and play it and destroy it and slice and dice it, tempo-based etc, etc.

you should be able to use some soft synths and export as .mid. And yes it will sound like MIDI sounds so-to-speak. it's kinda hard to explain.

bearer of bad news.
what you're wanting to do isn't possible
MIDI isn't sound, it's telling an instrument to play a note/chord on that instrument.

ohhhhhhhhh right right. There are many little do-dads for this. Including this little bad boy which is a free little stand alone: http://download.com.com/3000-217…

you could also use something very professional like Sound Forge which will allow you to import a .wav file, master it and then export as a nice .mid. :)

I have done that on my Mac.

tymeframe is right, it is and it isn't.

well, see you can in fact take a .wav file and convert it to .mid. It isn't going to sound exactly the same. It actually brings it down in quality and resemblence of actual instrumentation.

i don't believe you can do that with your voice, unless you are singing??? =)

Yamaha does it best: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/…
- JazX0
you can do it with anything that has a frequency, it doesn't mean it's gonna' come out good sounding though hehehe :)

thanks JazX...I'll try that..

I dont have to sound that good anyway.
