I got into The Cure in 4th grade, when most people around me weren't listening to anything like that-just listening to the shit on the radio.
They've always been my favorite band and a huge influence on the music I write. I don't care for the poppy stuff too much, Just Like Heaven or Friday I'm in Love.
But favorites are some of the darker songs on Wish, all of Pornography, Disintegration, Bloodflowers.I was lucky enough to see them in 2000 on their brief 5 show US club tour. Only 900 tickets went on sale in Dallas, bought at Ticketmaster the way they do the lottery thing. They called my number and like a little girl getting to see NSYNC I thought I was going to scream.
The show was amazing. Standing 15 feet away from Robert Smith for close to three hours.
They are on a new label now and are working on a new album with the guy who produced Korn (I think...)
Makes me really curious what that will sound like.
They also have a 4 disc B-Side set coming out this month of tons of songs.

Oh, and the Trilogy DVD is fantastic. Great sound, incredible lighting at the show.
Good interviews at the end as well, and the do an amazing version of The Kiss as an encore.

ALthough I love them...I have to admit to their new stuff, and that includes 'Wish'...is utter shite.

The cure are absolutely brilliant. I have to agree that everything up to disintergration (included)is 5 star material. Disintergration particularly is my favorite. So powerful and dark... Oh, and be sure to listen to the track "Burn" on the "the crow" soundtrack. That track is amazing.

Yep. The Cure. Great.
Picked up "Mixed Up" for £4.99 in HMV in the January Sales... been on repeat for most of the last week or so...
...Loving Fascination Street and Never Enough [Big Mix].
Who else does it for me? The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays... will never tire of either. :)
