Dunno whats the differance in working for a Nike that has sweat shops right? I just wanted to know would I be looked down upon for doing marlboro stuff. And if you had a chance to do something different for Marlboro...like something "edgey" would you do it? Would you do it and just hide it? or what?

At the end of the day all we do is make money for people by making their communication more effective.
So whether your promoting fags, beer, macs, windows, or coke, its all the same thing.
It still amazes me that people have all these 'morals' but will happily live in a system and lifestyle that perpetuates consumerism in the first place.
Fucking designers piping on about iPods, and Macs, and cool trainers and the 'right' t-shirt.We are all whores

i think the tobacco industry would be a very interesting industry to advertise, there are so many strick rules that you have to get around, for example the formula 1. the top few cars used to be sponsored by top tobacco companies (ferrari - marlboro) but they were not alowed to advertise on the cars in europe, so they just kept the morlboro red arrow and removed the lettering and it still lokked like a marlboro car, and the jordon hondo (sponsored by benson & hedges) used the buzzing hornet (B&H)
very clever and enforced the brand even more

and its our job to make these things so fucken appealing.
how many times have you laughed out load at copy that the wanky marketing departments send you, knowing full well its a load of horse shit, but still we put it on a spoon and shove it down joe publics throat. That was a good article:
"Its suggested remedies include green taxes, laws requiring industry to take back life-expired products, making goods which will last longer, and more responsible choices by individual consumers."

i dunno, i enjoy a smoke and like to have the coiche, i think targeting young audiences is wrong, but whats wrong with advertising for an older mature market.
People just dont take responsibility for they're actions any more. If you smoke you run the risk of cancer, dont go sueing other people.
i hear this morning some guy in the states is sueing a cable tv company cause he is hooked on television and beacause his wife has a fat ass.

I am not working as a graphic designer and I accept cig ads, but I guess as soon as you are the person who creates those things your perspective shifts a bit and it naturally seems a bit wrong.
I think it is the same with films... there is a big difference between watching a film with crazy violence and being the person who creates them.

The whole 'money' deal is so true.
I believe the staff of Razorfish (Sweden) turned down an account w. Philip Morris for guilt-related reasons.
A few months later razor went bankrupt. But it was good to have had that choice.

nope...at least they dont show it...just see a lot of people complaining about others websites etc. take a look at some of the peoples info in the threads that complain about peoples work and such and they have no website themselves...so sad so its true chach
