please look at the source -
can i use this document for "html-email" on a pc?
- rasko40
no dont think so becasue you are preloading the images and they are not absolutely linked.
- lowimpakt0
sorry im not clear on the question. are you wondering if the rollover script works?
if so, yes it works
- rasko40
the best way to test things in my book is to... test them.

no javascript in html emails mate - sorry....

the html in html e-mails has to be version 1.0. thus no javascript, no layers, and a lot of other no's. html 1.0 is very basic. thank god. wouldn't be happy if javascript could be added. and html-emails def. don't rock.

im so dumb today. the man said email. must remember to read.........
- stewart0
thanks jevad.
so, no javascript.
and the tables, are they okay?
didn't use nested tables...
- jevad0
tables should be fine....
- stewart0
okay, removed the javascript.
so i can't make anything interactive, except the ...
geez.
- stewart0
and the stylesheets, are they limited too somehow?
- rabattski&rabattski0
i'm almost positive that you can't use stylesheets as well. that's why most html-emails are just plain images.

in my testing, some styles do work if embedded in the html. nothing too fancy though but you can set font size and color.

the output of stylesheets it's still very email client depended. an email client isn't the same as a webbrowser. rule is to keep html emails as simple as possible.
i just said you can't use javascript but technically you can use javascript. but most email clients don't allow javascript actions due to security issues. some do. thus basically making javascipt unusable.
anyways, here's plenty of reading regarding html emails:

don't embedd the stylesheet - link it from your server like you do the images...
- stewart0
ok.

having the styles in the actual document will show up for outlook, outlook express and the web based browsers. (Haven't tested enough with the others) Linked ones will show in some and not others of the above mentioned.
Also, no to javascript is a very good idea. Scripting at all in emails is bad bad bad.
Generally the best way, imo is to keep it html 3.2 and below, no styles, no scripts and as a multipart email which sends both the html mail and the plain text version.

"Linked ones will show in some and not others of the above mentioned."
We've tested it over here and it works in outlook/express/yahoo/hotmail. Can't say for anything else because our clients don't use anything other than the above - so as long as it works in those we're happy...

Liar!!!!
;)
Actually, I think hotmail made some changes in the past couple months that allow for linked css now. But I don't know for sure, hence my post. Jevad's probably right, and in the end it's best to test on whatever platform / client your customers will be on.
