hey I have been using itunes at work because I didn;t have firewire or usb2.0 at home.
Uploaded about 15 GB so far.
What I need to know is - if I download itunes at home at connect my ipod to it - will it populate itunes with all the songs that are currently on it? Does it work like that?
And if it doesn't, how the f*** do I get all the songs from my work itunes onto my home itunes?

nope it won't copy your ipod to your home hd without help.
you need to get some ripping software that lets you copy whatever is on your ipod to your hd at home. try ipodlounge or downloads.com etc. make sure you read other peoples' reviews before using anything random
i've got sommink at home if you don't find anything good in the next 2 weeks

you can copy the musicfiles as data on the iPod - take it home - load it on iTunes there

I just went through the same thing. I wanted to transfer my mp3s from itunes at work to itunes at home via the ipod.
You can't transfer mp3s from the ipod directly to itunes. What I did was mount the ipod as a disk at work and dumped all 15 gigs of mp3s onto it. Then took it home and mounted it as a disk and copied the files to the hard drive. then deleted them from ipod. then added them to itunes. then synced the ipod with itunes.
Make sense?

my iPod crashed seriously after some of that ripware.
had to overwrite with the software on the CD that came along with + updates

yea but you can get ripping software that copies them all straight into the itunes library with all the right prefs. if you care about track names and info and all that

Use this:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dy…
Its just an Applescript. It will copy your tunes from your ipod to you hard drive, and create a playlist for you in itunes.
