it actually depends on what you want to do yes. since you have no tweening in illustrator. although you can setup the basic animations in illustrator export it to flash and than animate (tween) it. thing is, in illustrator you have so much more control while drawing. it's easier to modify, drag, add, etc. one or more points in illustrator. wouldn't surprise me if that part in flash will be illustrator-esque in the future.

flash is better for traditional frame by frame animation... i.e. getting the feel for the line.

(dec 30 03)...or like freehand, macromedia's vector graphics program.
which is very good I might add.

aarr! forgot 'bout freehand there. actually, since freehand is macromedia as well, it prolly be more like freehand then.... freehand-esque. even has a better ring to it.

Freehand. def for flash import.
Illustrator has a different feel , and doesn't slow up as much, but it's cool to have so many SWF options and the possibility of multiple pages as frames.

yeah frame by frame needs to be flash based for me. I should just play with the wacom settings.. but anyone who's found a happy medium in those settings, someone who's really into drawing, and frame by frame animation.. dew lemme know.

According to latest issue of Computer Arts (well in the timetable section). Macromedia will announce a new version of Freehand which possibility call FREEHAND MX 2004 in February. Not sure is there any function added (hope they don't copy the tool from Adobe - 3D plugin from illustrator) because i am using illustrator more than freehand... well let see how special when it's release...

fast flash drawing technique:
- rough it out with line tool (straight lines)
- with arrow tool drag those lines into curves.
- fine tune it and color it
get the hang of this and you will be moving very quickly.

i hardly draw in flash. too limited. i actually do all the vector oriented artwork in illustrator first and then export it to swf.

^^ me too.

mm. yeah- do you also animate though? I do so many images in an animation, I don't think it'd be practical import from ai.
