I'm moving over to Maya after the new year and will be listing my full retail boxed Carrara Studio 3 (eovia.com) on eBay in the next few days so just wanted to give you all the chance to snap it up before it gets listed.
I'll be looking for about £65 (+ £8 UK postage and packaging). It comes complete with full printed manual and all original packaging/contents (obviously). I own a 'student license' and will transfer all this over to you. The software is absolutely fantastic and has received rave reviews throughout the industry. I've used it for a few projects and cannot recommend it enough!(For the price I'll throw in my purchased plugin: Anything Grows).
I live just outside Glasgow (Scotland) and my eBay user ID (for feedback purposes) can be viewed here:

E-mail me for more details...
Cheers,
Colin

Ahhhhh Colin, Colin and you are also selling that beautiful font of yours. I have to get me motivated to get that thing. It's nice. :)
- Leftofsix0
Haha. Well the font aint that 'beautiful' i'll be updating it in a few weeks time to smooth out the little glyphs i don't like... also got a few more faces in the pipeline :)
- rasko40
dude, maya doesn't exist anymore, that was like, hundreds of years ago... silly!
- JazX0
AWESOME!

I'll buy that shit off ya, if it can do basic room modeling (see my post below 3D Question). Is it mac or pc version?
- Leftofsix0
Hi Helvetica
Hell yeah it can do basic 3D room modelling. The application is first class! Take a look at the quality of the renders over at the gallery (eovia.com) and judge for yourself. I'd be quite happy to also include the VectorStyle plugin (does flash 3D exports) if needed.
The application is for Mac & PC (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and PC).
It's a cracker!
Mail me if you need more infoCheers,
Colin

I did the Jonathan Ive piece on my website using Carrara Studio and the VectorStyle plugin so that'll give you a little taster of what you can do :)
It's a powerful piece of kit that's really easy to get into.

As you said you move to use Maya in New Year, why not use 3Ds Max, it is easier to use and powerful (and quite popular too), because i tried both softwares trial version and the interface and functionality is very similar. Especially the latest version of 3Ds Max, most functions in there is exactly what Maya had.
Well this is my opinion... Anyway!! Have fun and Nice to meet you Colin!!
- Leftofsix0
Hi Bahiatronic
I can't use 3dsmax because I'm on a Mac... simple as that really. I have used it in the past for one project but that was back in my PC days (all a little blurry now).
On the Mac we really only have the choice of Maya, Carrara and Cinema 4D in the field of decent 3D.
Cheers,
Colin

IC IC!! Farewell... Good luck to your project in Maya :D and HAPPY NEW YEAR :D Colin!!
Actually Cinema 4D is another good 3D application. There are some tutorials in CA (Computer Arts)...Anyway!! Great to talk to you,

Colin, not that I would recommend it, but Lightwave is on the Mac now too. Just as high end as anything else out there, but harder to learn. I was a big Infini-D user back in 98-99. That was the daddy of Carrara and it was quite limiting. I'm starting with Maya now.. I would recommend the Learning Maya 5 book/DVD from Alias. Good Luck. We should email each other with questions. This can be an overwhelming thing to learn.

Hi Dean
I've been getting to grips with Maya now for about 3-4 months (just learning and doing tutorials). I've been going through a huge pile of Gnomon Workshop DVDs my mate gave me and I have to say that they're absolutely top notch.
It is a steep learning curve, however I think once you get your head round it all it's really ace!
Cheers,
Colin

I've been going throught the tutorials in my book. I'm impressed with how easy it is to model. I think the real challenge will be understanding how to use the hypergraph well. It seems to be the guts of the software. I just wish the window made it easier to see. It makes me want to get a 2nd monitor, just for for that.

Probably helpful for CyBrainX and Colin

Wait, what typeface for sale? I am a sucker for those things.
- Leftofsix0
Well that certainly didn't take long at all... a few hours online and it's just been snapped up on eBay.
Thanks for all your interest
