bedroom or bigger...where do you get most of your music?
lots of record stores have listening stations, but do you ever take chances on ebay or the like with records you havent heard before?

I go to Amoeba in LA. And yes I'vr bought off eBay if I can find one person selling multiple records I want, because the shipping is better that way.
Don't really by records I haven't heard, except I bought Rock Breaks Vol. 1 and had never heard it, but was very happy with it.

Final Scratch is the shit, it runs w/ a software called Tractor DJ and if you hae ever used this software and can imagine what it would do hooked up to two turntables allowing you to needle drop your mp3's you would agree it's the best thing since sliced bread.... about the records I get allot of mine on the web at:

i used to buy from hard to find...shipping = expensive.
i've seen josh wink do that shit...pretty wild. i don't understand how they "dynamically" create the grooves on that record thingy...
doesn't make sense to me.

The most healthiest of shops even if it is quite a far way to go for some lps and 7s

Hard to Find is pretty good, though the shipping is pricey. I like to keep tabs on how much my old US House and Hip Hop imports are worth. I hardly get time to play them now though. I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting shot of the lot.
In answer to the original question, sometimes the only way to get hold of a tune that you hear is big but is hard to get hold of, is to buy it unheard and hope it's as good as everyone says it is. Doesn't always pan out though.

never buy anything you haven't listened to (unless you're in a thrift store and its cheap enough to have a punt) as even good producers that you know have their off days. or unless you're rich enough to throw you money away.
don't go on the basis of a review alone, listen to suggestions but don't be sold to - make your own mind up.
you can't beat hanging out in a good record store (dancetracks, satellite and vinylmania if you're in new york) where you can listen to record beginning to end (a catchy break or bassline sounds great for a few bars but the track might not go anywhere) if you can't get to a good store find a site with the longest samples.

...and don't go shopping stoned.
