For God's sake, don't we have AIDS to cure? Herpes to cure? Non-polluting fuels to invent?
I'll believe in the Sasquatch before I'll believe there's a need for their finding a huge number.
arg!

what shit.

yes it matters, you math hater.
show me how you can find a cure for aids by leaving your computer on overnight and I'll buy you a steak dinner.
- Mimio0
There's no monmey in cures man. The money is in the treatment. Welcome to capitalism.

But what does that number allow them to do?
- brundlefly0
gahhw
what doesnt it allow us to do....
why would you need to know the uses of said number.....
- kpl0
encryption algorithms are based on large primes, for instance.
- Skylark0
dont matter to me. thats for sure.
- brundlefly0
Kpl, don't spill the beans, this is strictly a need to know situation.
- kpl0
posters. posters with large primes printed on them are cool, i saw them all the time in math class.

nah, it really doesn't matter

a better understanding of mathematics and number theory helps pretty much every scientific field out there.... cause and effect. seems trivial, but it's just a step in the ladder.

really, explain further
- mitsu0
actually, science benefits heavily from math. don't be so quick to scoff it.

For my degree in science, I was forced to take way too much Calculus and Physics. I would also say no, but yes, I mean there could be something to him figuring that out. However, science in general isn't as exact as people think, so you never know.

math is the key to the universe, pups...
- ********0
but math is greater than thousands of plastic boxes calculating in lock step...
- Mimio0
WRONG.
The power of Castle Greyskull is.
