some parts of bcn are really bad.
but in general its pretty safe as long as you keep your eyes open and forcefield up.

If you like digging through records I have a wicked list of vinyl pushers in Barcelona Don't suppose you'd really want to do that if you only have 5 hours tho... sooo, I recommend the hood and chicita option ;)

when my band played barcelona we got in to the city at 3am right in the middle of that music festival they have - we watched from our balcony drinking big jugs of beer as pikey little pickpockets walked up and down this strip pickpocketing tourists...so many fights broke out it was unbelievable....

We did a similiar thing in LaRamblas. Just sat and looked onto the square watching the mayhem. The pickpockets are so blatant its untrue.

especially near plaza de Catalunya near the metro exit.
reality show before your eyes.
im not scared of them but it gives you this adrenalinerush watching the scene.

not to be a prick but you can search out the multiple threads on this in the DB, seriously that might help you. I used to hang in the Las Ramblas area when I lived there for 2 months doing some contracting work for a European consortium.

fair enough, but I look at some of them, and they only mention tourist stuff.
If a friend came to London, Id tell them to walk down regents canal, go to Alli palli for the best veiws of London, walk through the parks.
I am looking for the unobvious, which unfortunatley the threads previously dont provide

yeah true, even Las Ramblas area is very touristy, but you can see fine artwork and architecture around there, etc. Plus it's near the Sea so there is good food and nice looking women. Cheers :)

but Ive done all that before. Its like saying go to London and look at the buildings around piccadilly circus.
pah. I want to see the clerkenwell of barcelona.
