well, sure - he knows how to take a picture with a bright light to show human imperfection. and i'm sure he thinks its really clever too, but the dude at the DMV does the same thing every day, and his portfolio is probably much more interesting.
i know too many professors who do similar work, and they all have a similar style, but at the same time - they really don't have style - mostly due to a lack of knowledge in the technology they are using. so they use simple fonts and simple layouts - i don't know why- they just do...
...and it turns out so unbelievably boring that the end viewer has to believe it was done on purpose.
and the designer/photographer/artist plays it off as "work so base, it is on a higher plane"
reeks of the emperors clothes to me. we all - sorry *scratch that - a few of us here know what good art/design/photog is, and sure "it is what it is and nothing more" and all that blah, blah (artspeak which i find so tiresome)

Surely good art/design/photgraphy is subjective, and therefore there can't be universal 'good'.

I do agree that Jordon Crane's work has been rather overrated in this thread.

the fact that he's created other sites with much more "sophisticated" flash work reveals that the simplicity of his own site is a conscious esthetic decision made to create a broad variety of esthetic responses, depending on the viewers' own life experiences-- in other words, it's art.

í don't think that is even of any importance!
really, it is like saying everyone using Flash should be a wizard, and i think people overrate Flash knowledge waaaaay too much in the context of being a designer.The best designers (imo) that I know don't even know how to handle that app.

oh, i just read a lot of comments i haven't read before and if that was eric jordan there and he is open minded and constructive about this, hats off to you sir!
it is sort of in the same league as 2A for this matter, if you don't like or feel it don't stay there too long. that and the fact that this thread goes over 100 posts! ;)

jeeez, some you guys can sure say some pretty hateful shit for not even knowing jordan crane, the person.
i dont know him and his work is really not even my taste, but i still have respect that he is someone who is out there making stuff instead of talking shit.

maybe the guy is overestimated, but he is full of taste and can do smooth jobs
as always the 'internet' is full of shit and full of really nice things, this page in my opinion belongs to the second category..
