started a job at a new agency 2 weeks ago as a contractor at a set hourly rate.
didnt sign a contract ( yes im an idiot) and everything was fine until last week i asked when they wanted their invoices from me, bi weekly, monthly ect.
got all sketchy and never gave me a straight answer, then avoided phone calls and emails. talked to them today and they tell me they thought i was working for free!
anyone else have rediculous stories like this or am i just extremely stupid.
ack

"and they tell me they thought i was working for free!"
LOL. Sorry, but that is 2 much...
- Mimio0
Quite whining and send them a fucking invoice.
- mitsu0
something tells me you'll never do that again.
i suppose you could call them back and say you're bored and would like to do some more pro bono work again and then spread some 'love'. interpret that as you like...

But officer! I thought because the car was unlocked, it was free! :D
- MrDinky0
did you talk about money with them, previous to working there?
was there a verbal agreement on set rate?
- idsgn0
i know, i laughed when they told me that.
they said they thought it was an unpaid "testing the waters" type of thing where we would see if we liked working together and then sometime in the future start on actual paying contracts.
- MrDinky0
thats bs.
if thats what they thought and didnt communicate that with you, its their fault.
BUT you must of talked about money.
if you didnt and they didnt tell you anything. you aint gettting paid

i did send them an invoice, thats why the actually phoned me back i think, to bitch about it.
there was a verbal agreement set out before hand, an hourly rate when working on projects. which was fucking peanuts anyway

What company was it?
- MrDinky0
if they didnt tell you that they are doing a trial run with you than you have the right for the funds.
if they dont pay, you can apeal to BBB and take them to collection agency.
and also to small claims court, no lawyers needed.
- MrDinky0
acutally i wanna know who these guys are also..
- tripleflux0

i really hate how people contantly try to screw over artists to save a penny. they dont realize that we all have to live, eat, and sleep somehwere.
out of all the people a company could screw first that probably deserve it... why are the artists the punching bag? maybe because we never punch back. i wish more people would keep their shit togetherso that wouldnt happen

They charge $5.00 for a fucking business card template! Do the clients even know they can get those free!
- Mick0
How much work did you do for them - we talking a few days work, a month?
- MrDinky0
i noticed that they have a very long client list but they dont tell you what they have done for them
- Warland0
Template thing is well dodgy. Especially when you can get every single one of them for free online (or god forbid if you use your brain and a ruler)
