Has anyone worked for Aquent? How was it, do they really take all your money and keep you in a cupboard or is it worthwhile?

I worked for them for a while - started off on about £15 an hour and worked up to about £28...yeah they take a cut - but they got me a lot of good work and interviews....

Whilst i was freelancing i worked a little for these guys.
They are a really good agency with a list of really good clients.
they do seem to take a fair bit of the cut but you do get to work with excellent clients and produced some really nice picess for the portfolio..
all in all a really great 'true' creative agency.

Aquent Melbourne, excellent. Aquent London, bit dodgy. Both offices have got me really good jobs before but I've found the London office really awkward to deal with, am looking for a different agency to hook up with so I can go back to Freelancing next year. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, interesting. Aquent contacted me about 9 months ago. Said they had a CD job or something. I met a guy called John Hardy, he seemed like a nice chap, but i wasn't looking for another job.
Anyway, they look pretty reputable and have some good vacancies, also that working abroad stuff looks quite good too.
- Blofeldt0
Oh yeah. Do they find you a full time position or is it all contract/freelance stuff?

I'm sure it differs from place to place, but I have hear more negative than positive things about Aquent including someone here that posted a thread on 'Aquent' about two years ago. It's probably still in DB, just search it and check it out. The Pittsburgh Aquent is pure crap, they wouldn't know talent if it smacked them in the face. Typical suit type shit.

Recent Experience with Aquent London. Went to visit them after a break overseas. Had worked for the same office 12 months previously (London). I had a recommendation from the Melbourne offcie just in case.
On the day I visit I arrive at 11am and leave at 5.30pm. After a combination of random tests and waiting about (with a brief interview inbetween) I am happy to leave.
I sit through a Quark test (Melbourne office didnt bother, I had 5 out of 5 on my records) and a Dreamweaver test even though I said I had moved away from web work and was not interested in doing that anymore.
Then nothing. A few months later a phone call, "Do I know how to use Dreamweaver?" I dont respond.
Several months later still, the second call. It's an invitation to the Christmas party.

Bunkrum, that sounds about right.

Glad I'm not the only one then. London is bad but the Melbourne office is great. Really good people. Go Figure.

For sure regionalized, but mostly screwed up nonetheless.

Any recommendations, Re: Agencies in old London town? There are so many.

I tried to get work through them not long after I moved to Chicago.
They had some BS on their web site like "One of our agents will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your..."
I think after a week I wrote them back and asked why they told lies.

Everyone I work with is from aquent. They seem to like it. I am contract also, but have a direct purchase order from the company. I make more $$$ cuz I don't have aquent taking a cut of it. But I am also registered thru aquent and they keep calling trying to place me at the company I work for. Been registered with them for a year now, few phone calls, but never anything good. I would stay away if you can, but use them for work when you don't have any.

are you really good at flash/design? and what do you consider to be good. I feel that I am great animator... but I have intermediate skills as a programer. So what level would that be... p.s. this is not a bash, just curious...

I had applied online for the Denver office last year, and they said that someone would contact me in a coulple of days or so - i didnt hear anything for weeks then months later after i had got a job they contacted me then seemed peeved that i was no longer interested, i may be blacklisted because i asked them what they were smoking over there and could they send me some. the only reason i applied in the first place is they had some great job listings i wanted a shot at - and they couldnt even get a admin monkey to call me back - jerks.
