I don't know what to do or what to tell my clients...
... but a few projects seemed to just drag for a while because the client was busy...... but it figures - all of them now want to proceed... all at the same time. I don't know what to tell them - because there's no way I can do everything now. No way at all...
... I'd turn some of the stuff over to other people...
but... I don't know how that's going to help because Im going to have to re-explain and sort through everything (organize it all for someone new).
i'm kind of scared here.

Ah, sounds like my average day. Sucks, i know.
You *could* re-direct some projects to our beloved Pinky here, he's having the same problems only the other way around.
- jevad0
give em to 4cy!
- abizzyman0
hehe....
yeah, jox... I've thought of sending the pink-man something... but like I said earlier - this stuff is kind of complicated - and I've worked out the organization on it (one of the projects is a national magazine - don' ask me how I got it - or why I accepted it)...
... I guess I'm looking for some words to tell my customers.

did you have a contract specifying deadlines for clients to send you all content? were they late?
that is sort of the feeling i got from your post...if so...tell them that since they were late the project timeline needs to be adjusted...
if not then im not sure quite what to tell you...

yea, i know, it's not that easy to just toss out stuff to others when there's weeks of research / meetings / whatever behind it.
But our firm usually have a lot of back-up freelancers nearby who just drops in whenever the to-do pile reaches the roof (even though they're basically here everyday anyway)
Turning down jobs is okay sometimes but don't make it a habit - because the word spreads. Clients can be stupid when it comes to stuff like this, and it spreads fast "hey man, that abizy guy, he's only doing hotshot stuff, don't bother contacting him with these flyers / cards / small site"...
what im saying is that it *can* backfire eventually, so be careful.

Don't you cover scope and schedule in your contract? If not, imagine me over here in the South, wagging my finger at you and nodding my head in disapproval.
...if so, turn this around on them and say, look mofo, you sat on your hands forever and now here's a revised schedule that you will abide by or risk being charged a cajillion dollars for being a pain in the ass.

contracts... umm...
... well... both accounts are clients that had had it with their previous designer -- but I always heard negative things from both sides about both people -- so of course I jumped right in there and scooped them up...
oui - nothing contractural as far as the timeframe.
jox - thanks for the advice - very sound - i'm just going to buckle down and get what i can done.
oh... and just another thing - I have farmed part of this out (the magazine)... but I farmed it out to two college students that are both in the middle of finals... and that's pretty much why I'm screwd - 3 months ago - they were just in the middle of a semester.
*sniff... and now my epson is PISSING ME OFF.... i'm covered in ink... waiting for this thing to repair itself.

be honest bizzy. tell them do to shifting timelines things have piled up and are crashing down all at once. then start juggling.
i have been in the same boat myself. two clients disappeared on me for 8 months then both came back around the same week. i can't wait to finish these projects and tell these fools to hit the road.
let me know if you need any help...
- monkeyshine0
ah, sorry to hear that b. I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. Why is this time of year so damn stressful.
If you need any print help, one of my designer back-ups called me last night looking for work overflow. He's good and desperate...the best combination.
- abizzyman0
allright... i appreciate the offers...
... I'm jetting out of my normal job early today to try and sort out my situation. If i can figure out how to get this information out there to those that need work - I'll repost.
Thanks for all the advice and consoling.
