what are the steps you take ?

1) Wait three weeks and tell client, "Yeah, this is hard. I'll have something ready next week."
2) Wait another week, spend twenty minutes fucking around with some vectors/types, contact client and say, "Simple is good. You like?"

get your client to take you out for drinks, bring a 2h pencil....
find a napkin, discuss concepts and sketch out concepts on said napkin.....
keep drinking....
wake up the next day, desperately searching for napkin through haze of pints of euro beers seeping out pours and brain.
open illustrator, make some random shapes.
send to client, go back to bed.

get to know the ambition of your client. what makes him better than other competitors. why does he want a logo. what is his targetgroup. moodboards? what's his image. take 'm by the hand in your process. he wants to be involved. 3/5 proposals. lead 'm to the one thats best. trust your intuition. etc etc
