if you are going to buy a 'lomo', please dont buy it from the lomo site. way overpriced, go to your local camera shop preferably- they generally like hooking up people with nice stuff, and will help you out with advice etc in future. if not ebay will be cheaper too...
or dont buy an LC-A. I picked up a fed-5 (feautured on the lomo site @ £65) for a tenner, brand new, off ebay.just my thoughts on that one. they do take cool photos though, in the right hands.

lomos are rad. Sure it's a particular style or what-have you but it's no different to using a filter on your lens. Still takes skill to use - check quambs photos for mega unrealness.

good tip:
buy slide film. when you take it in to your developers ask them to cross-process the film.

what is cross-process?

cross process is...normal color film is developed in a chemical process labeled C41. slide film is supposed to be done in the process called E-6. when you take slide film and process it with C41 chemicals..it forces the slide film into being a negative and it really messes wtih the colors and saturations

I got a Holga, looks like a kids toy and takes great shots. Its medium format though so its a bugger getting em developed, cos its fairly expensive and theres only a few places that do it.
Anyone know a place in Dublin where you can get em done cheaply will get several dairy lee triangles for their info.

Oh, globeriding right, you can pick up bargains. I got a FED 3 when I was in Prague for 20 euro and Id say I got ripped off. Takes nice shots but took me ages to figure out the focusing which is a really bizarre design.

you didn't tell us you cross processed those before nic! lovely.
I don't know about lomos, but with cross processing often it can make it even funkier if you under expose maybe 1 stop or so and then get them to push it 1 stop in the cross processing... increases saturation even more and makes it grainier.
