what's sad is this disaffected cool that passes for "cinema". just dressing something up without making any comment on it is more like exploitation. i saw it in the theatre and it really wasn't that beautiful. not to mention that it applies the whole time warp thing that's been used over and over from pulp fiction to momento to donnie darko. sorry but i can't understand why this film is such a cause celebre.

I thought it was ambitious. But masterfully crafted?I noticed the boom mic in a few of the scenes. It was an intersting experimental film but it had some major flaws. It had far too many allusions to cliche topics regarding teen violence for a movie that refused to say anything concretely about them.

omg! not the boom mic!
:D
i think it does not happen often, that you are taken so deep into the place of events like in this one. (minutes of just walking through the floors, taking your time to look around like you would if you -were- actually there). and if that was the approach it was done in the most sensual way in all aspects of filmmaking (cinematography, editing, sound design, etc).and the clichees you are talking about: all performers in the movie are non-actors and most of it was improvised, so things are as they are.
cant do anything about it, i am still stunned.

dude, who are you kidding? did you ever "just walking through the floors, taking your time to look around like you would if you -were- actually there" at your high school. no way, you wanted to get the hell out of there. it wasn't done senually, it was done to create tension, which yeah, worked, but it also went a long way to show just how little there was to this movie. the whole film could have been wrapped up easy in 30 minutes max, but just drifted (aimlessly) on and on.

I don't care if it's improvised or not, it was included in the movie therefore it's part of my critique. Seriously though, I doubt the repressed homosexuality and violent video games weren't structural in the script.

possible. but i see no intention at all to give -any- answers.
its 'just' a review of the situation.

Neither do I. It's contrived to give you a experience the writer imagined could happen. It's really nothing more than just that.

Clown - nope your wrong.
The slow-ness is the point.

where in the city is it showing?
