How much memory do you have in your system (mac only)? When is enough memory enough? Can you tell a speed difference after 1 GIG of memory?
So many memory questions, so little time

you wont notice a speed difference on a mac after 512 ram, unless you are opening a 300 meg image in photoshop, or have 20 apps open....
basically any operation that has to write to disk will be sped up when it can just dump the info into ram

I notice the difference big time in Maya. And in After-effects. Anything un-video related seems to work as fast as i need it too in the 512 - 1 gig range.

I have 512 at work and 1 gig at home. I definitely need more than 512. I'm concerned that 1gig won't be enough after three years of owning my 17" Powerbook. 1 gig is the max.

I pulled off a 430 meg billboard off my 17 inch powerbook....took a little bit, but I did it! with one gig

430 mb for a billboard? that sounds unusually high... I thought billboard graghic files were in the 20 to 40mb range....

240 inches by 120 @ 70 dpi....
427 meg or something.....I also had like 10 layers, it was painful

g3 500 with 640, and it's still running tings. even for video.
i don't need no fancy shit. YA HEAR?

1.25GB here.
Pretty decentmore thsn 2GB is a waste because most apps can't even access more than 2GB until the next round of updates.
(fo rsome inSANE reason, Adobe didn't add that feature into Photoshop yet)

Theres never enough memory. Never. If I could cram more in my machine with masking tape and bluetack the side of my machine wouldnt close.
Seriously, never enough memory.
