anyone?
i'd like to get some ideas on how to tackle this problem in another way.
perhaps some of you guys have some ideas.....

maybe add a shape above the mark that represents what you are trying to communicate, even something abstract like a swoosh of some sort.... maybe extend on of the letter forms below the basline subtely to personalize it more.. dunno....

thanks dude......
i'm trying.
my idea was:
"unlock your desires"
but adding a key to the logo seems too overpowering....
i tried some ornaments but again they just didnt fit.

point 1: i don't like capitalized words starting with a bigger capital, but i think US designers love typography like this?
(discussed this before, don't know what topic)point 2: your business partner is right - the logo is too clean - there is nothing special that i can remember as a subjective viewer. it can be a little extra thingie that amazes the viewer, perhaps?

yeah a key is a bit goofy but what if its something that signifies freedom which is the same thing as 'inlocking' .... what about some abstract wingspan or something? something fluid/curved for sure though vs. something very blocky i think would achive what you are aiming for.... i think the last post may have been right about mixing the uppercase with small caps.... not sure it does much for the concept...

*warning, this idea might sound cliche*
Invert the two top serifs of the 'M' in mind to resemble to little devil like horns. Very subtle, almost unnoticable. Might go well with logo 1 (which is the better of the two).
Overal, temptation comes to mind in terms of 'icons' that could be added...snakes, apples..etc.
*told you it was slightly cliche*

The keyhole above 'mind', resembles an illustrative outline of a head to me (especially since its attached to the word 'mind'). What about turning the 'i' in mind into the keyhole so that its larger and more noticeable. *shrug*

first off THANKS for the tips.
stewart:
thanks, i'm reworking the typeface with the uppers and lowers.
o.k its too clean, do you have any logos that come to mind that illustrate what you're thinking?
this way i can get some visual idea about what you're thinking.
with the name being sooo long it sucks.
pepe:
yeah, it doesnt seem to be working.i'm unclear about what you're saying about the wingspan/fluid thingie though.
bluejam:
its an interesting take on it. I didnt think of that for one.
i'm trying to figure out *HOW* to do this in illustrator.
IDP:
that was an idea i had as well.....still tossing it around. (the idea) LOL

what about a vectorized shape of a bald headed guy (mr clean type) with both hands on either side of his head pointing and his mind.. with some sort of grin...
anyone else picture this?? or just me?
- stewart0
DON'T do the sketches in illustrator.
take pencil and paper. only then you can make things the way you want it.
after that you'll allways find a way / or someone who can draw it digitally.

i agree with stewart, i draw everything on a pad in front of my computer, once done i fly through it on the computer.... im not sure exactly what i had in mind but maybe a swoosh of some sort, something more painterly or humanistic (<-- is that even a word?) to contrast the graphic nature of the type...
- dconstrukt0
great ideas guys.
i was going more twards classy simple and clean.
my ideas were based on barneys, tiffanys stuff like that.
this is a totally new direction.
sweet.
i know i know never jump straight to the computer.
i'm going to explore temptation and that sort of thing with the icon symbol now.
thanks.

mabye you should change the font. it looks very institutionalised as it is... try adding some colour too.
check out the runners up in the logo section...
- dconstrukt0
the font is too institutionalized?
thats a new one...lol
i havent done color yet because it needs to work in black and white first....you know that.
thanks for the link....damn those logos sucked ass.
lol
- minge0
suggestion:
pay me and ill do it.
- minge0
oh wait;
thats what your client is expecting you to do.
- dconstrukt0
I'll pay you $150 for it.
:o)
- minge0
an hour, right?
;)
- SoulFly0
just because your client wants something like barneys or tiffanys it doesn't mean that's what you have to do.
usually companies with that type of logo that consists of letters alone are companies that have strong identity. Like Microsoft. You defiently need to make that logo into something people will remember, that will stick in their minds after they see a business card. You still can be classy yet creative. Think Apple computers. That is classy yet creative, the tyfeface stands out, it's easy to remember, plus it has an apple as an icon, which turned out to become one of the greatest american icons.
