I have a young student in animation who'd liek to start his own website. Where should I send the kid that's good? He can't pay for it, that's too crazy right now. Geo-cities? Seems too lame to me. are there some recomendations?

http://www.internetplads.dk/inde…
a list of 211 places that apparently will host your site for free. 'Reklame' means 'bannerads' - the rest is pretty obvious.

you can search free hosts at http://www.absolutely-free-hosti… depending on what features you want.
I am currently trying http://www.hostrocket.com/ which seems quite good sofar (but I've only been there for 3 days ... see http://www.martinrees.com/). I've been at Brinkster.com for about a year but all of a sudden they decided to put some ads on my page :( (after a year of ad-free hosting). http://www.angeltowns.com is another one which sound OK.

Doteasy provides a good amount of services including hosting for free (when you purchase a domain name through them)
