I have used (loaded dynamically) 1600 x 1200 .JPGs before now. You can prolly go even bigger than that tho...

i did a similar thing a whil age with images.
movie clip, with image masked off so you only view one pixel width and then stretch that clip, means that you don't have to stretch much to get the same effect
[clip move with mouse and image in the opposite direction]

but if you have a stretch of 100 pixels... you basically are stretching the iamge by 100 ? so a 1024 wide image would be 102,400 pixels ?

can we have a look at your fla....
(rubbing hands together)

there are two examples there, one is about 10 k, the other is about 150k
i haven't got the flas here, but they are at home
- JamesEngage0
cool... have you tried it with a bigger image... i think that maybe the problem i'm having...
also your top one is not doing it correctly, but the bottom one is... i.e the bottom one is showing straght lines but top one ain't?
I think my code is right coz it does it fine with a movie clip without a jpeg... strange... can't read your writing? something about '5pixels' instead of '1'?
