Anyone know what the biggest size allowed... or maximum scale is for a bitmap in Flash, I want to have a massive bitmap / stretch a normal size one... any ideas?

?
I have used (loaded dynamically) 1600 x 1200 .JPGs before now. You can prolly go even bigger than that tho...

i mean really big! as in 1,000,000

hmm works with text not bitmaps... they go a little funny...
Nice effect though... will post up later.

Anyone no idea on bitmaps then? :(

i did a similar thing a whil age with images.
movie clip, with image masked off so you only view one pixel width and then stretch that clip, means that you don't have to stretch much to get the same effect
[clip move with mouse and image in the opposite direction]

but if you have a stretch of 100 pixels... you basically are stretching the iamge by 100 ? so a 1024 wide image would be 102,400 pixels ?

can we have a look at your fla....
(rubbing hands together)

there are two examples there, one is about 10 k, the other is about 150k
i haven't got the flas here, but they are at home

cool... have you tried it with a bigger image... i think that maybe the problem i'm having...
also your top one is not doing it correctly, but the bottom one is... i.e the bottom one is showing straght lines but top one ain't?
I think my code is right coz it does it fine with a movie clip without a jpeg... strange... can't read your writing? something about '5pixels' instead of '1'?
- blindpilot0
yeah, the bottom one was a cheat with the image sliced into 1 pioxel wide pieces, flash wouldn't import them, but if they were resized to from 1 pixel to 5, flash took them in.
it was a complete pain in the ass.
the top one is an attempt a duplicating the image and using a mask, i did a series of them, that was the most recent one i have here, but the ones on my home pc are more success ful

it has some great possibilites... troublew i had was trying to make the effect of a 1024*768 image... bascially the worst case is an image of 1024*1024 size... i.e 1,048,576 pixels wide...
