I am looking for a small, handy, yet sharp camera.
I have a Canon SLR but it is just too big for many purposes.
I have heard good things about Leica but I've never seen the results..
Any recommendations?

Rollei 35 SE, a classic camera from the 80s, come in black and silver. the are 3 the 35, the 35T with zeiss tessar lens, the 35S with zeiss sonar lens, the 35SE was the last and best of these cameras sonar len with coating. The y are small discrete and so sharp. i hyave the 35SE and bought it on ebay for 300 US. It is a zone focus camera, you have to know your distances.

I have an older Leica Minilux, and it's really nice but now I wish I had the C11 which is their APS camera.

another small classic is the olympus stylus epic, every real photographer should own one as a back up. a modern day classic $139 CDN new. is also features a hand spot metering system.

An M6 isn't compact at all.

a bit out of proportion for a leica but does anyone know if its as good as the Nikon/Canon primo's.
I'm talking easy of use-wise.

M6 not compact?
as long as you dont take the shoebox it comes with.
Most of the time its over my shoulder under my coat, handy!

I am looking for something that would fit in a coat pocket, and you could throw in a bag somewhat quickly, not it's own bag, any bag, for convenience purposes.
When the lens sticks out more than an inch or so, things tend to get breakable or inconvenient.. does that help?

olympus mju
dont expect supersharp pictures when a camera has a build in lens

4cY it was not intensional, the connection hung i guess i hit broadcast one too many times. i guess i have a reputation. I sware, it was a tech error

I too want a compact 35mm camera, im looking at the moment...
the leica c11 looks like a good one, and I expect the pics are better than most... but can an aps film camera use 35mm camera film?
where im going I doubt they will process aps

I think the Leica C3 does both formats.
