shellie, i don't know if they have fry's electronics in cali, but if so you can go find yourself a nice barebones computer and add on your memory, video card, hard drive and peripherals (keyboard/mouse/etc) and save yourself quite a bit...
or there's always online shopping.

nutrend.com or even newegg.com have good prices.
make sure the bus speed is the same when you buy the processor/motherboard/ram
and make sure to have at least 1024mb of ram.
