nowadays, i think the two will have to exist together, to be successful...but it really depends on art your are talking about...i agree, paintings, drawings, sculpture, need to be seen in person...but thats modern art...contemporart art will be/is digital, hence the demise of "real" contemporary galleries...these galleries will now be online, easily shown in/on the format where they were created, a computer....

thanks for your comment Ganon, do you feel that there is room for the 2 to merge? I find that seeing the artwork in person in the right ambience can stir deep emotions and feelings.

i feel online galleries will phase out traditional ones...if the trend of contemporary art is to become digital, there is no longer the need to go to a gallery to see artwork in person...online galleries can group artists of similiar styles and give them quick and easy access to millions of people instantly...not even an exhibit in MoMA NY can do that...are you going to start one piper...?
