okay I'm gonna purchase a titanium either 15" or 17" not sure which yet but I was wondering what you reccomend?
buy a new one or a used one?
- stewart0
why a 17" ??
15 inch is wide enough for me.well, if you like to show off, buy the 17"
- monkeyshine0
try looking for a refurbished one. That's how I got mine.

a good number of new 15" AlBook owners are reporting white splotches appearing on their screens...look for a used 15" TiBook until they fix the problem....
- brundlefly0
Apple said they'd replace any screen on a 15 within 3 business days of it showing up at a apple care center
......but the new screens are messign up too.... :(I have a 17, go big or go home.

where can I get a refurbished one?
- Aliyah0
I say go for the 12 inch, and invest in a slick flat panel monitor. Understated elegance, indeed:)....

i have a 17 and would get a 15 with a nice monitor at home the next time. but i love the 17, no problems, just a little large.
- brundlefly0
Toshiba release a PC with the same monitor in it...
it weighs 13 pounds, is over 2 inches tall and add an inch to the remaining specs.
The apple is as small as it can be.

never had problems with my 15"
and it is over 2 years old now.

so whats do you guys reccomend used or new? I have about 1800 dollars right now to spend.
- mitsu0
don't get the new one, it looks like someone attacked it with a can of silver spray paint...
- brundlefly0
and yet there is no paint chipping off the new ones.

Whey would anyone complain about having a monitor too large?
Do you also complain of too much sex, money, food or heat?
- mitsu0
i'd complain because i really have this thing for portability and also, i hate looking like an effin' computer geek. moderation is best. gimme the cute indie rock chick that doesn't wear makeup and the 15" powerbook and i'll be on my way. thanks.

i got my powerbook 11 months after i originally wanted to buy the same model, new..
I saved myself well over £1500.
Yes, it was an older model at that point in time, yet still more than good enough for my needs..
15", 45gb etc.

? nice

you can't hook an extra monitor to the 12 to have an extended monitor. the 12 only mirrors.
not all 15's have the screen issue, wait a few weeks then buy the 15.

"you can't hook an extra monitor to the 12 to have an extended monitor. the 12 only mirrors."
You're mistaken with the iBook, all new Powerbooks (12/15/17") can span to another monitor at least 20" - see second paragraph @ here: http://www.apple.com/powerbook/i…
if you want power and portability 12" is great
- brundlefly0
yeah, my girlfriends 12 inch does 1600x1200 on an external samsung with no slowdown what so ever...
AAAAND...
before I got the powerbook I was able to hack my old 800 ibook to do dual monitors just by making a quick switch to the video in the boot prams, that worked very well at 1600x1200 too
- sweetasbro0
I wonder if you can still hack a G4 iBook too? Anyone?
- brundlefly0
yup, the hack should work, as all the ati cards are made to support external monitors in their PC couterparts....apple just turns it off
