I have to do a postcard and there's too much text to cram into a small amount of space. And I don't have a printer to test it out.
Would you use 9 point (Zurich font)? Or is that too tiny. Most of the people getting this are middle aged people who are not designers.

if you have a printer, print it out, have a look and hand it over to your 60 yo uncle for a read

yeah, I think you can get away with 6 point and still be readible, 9 point should be fine for most people

9pt should be okay, but it's a bit subjective, since it all depends on your typeface (which I don't have).

Thanks for the advice. I'm using 9pt.
Zurich BT is like Helvetica. I would have used Helvetica but don't have the bold and italic versions and I'm just using .pfm fonts to be on the safe side with the printer.

Where I'm working lately, I am around a lot of 40+ers and man, these people can't see much below 10 pt. But 9pt can definitely still work, make sure theres comfortable leading and its not on too wide a column. But yeah, definitely test it on some elders.

print it out if you have a doubt..

I don't know the Zurich font but even if it ressembles Helvetica, doesn't mean its the same size. Like Verdana 9pt will be bigger than lets say Myriad 9pt cause of its "eye" (I don't know the proper term in english, but in french its "oeil" wich means "eye"). Anyways, print it out with different tracking and leading options to see wich one is easiest to read at 9pt.

Well, if you're talking about 40-somethings, far-sightedness probably won't be an issue. I think you should be fine. You see type as small as 6 pt for the general public.
