hi
i'm sure someone's asked this before but i couldnt find it.
how do most of you begin work that will eventually be a flash project? do you mock in a vector program or just draw elements and incorporate them in a photoshop mock? or just do everything in flash bringing things in from freehand or photoshop as needed? and if the last one, how do you deal with showing mocks to clients as you develop stuff?
just curious

dunno really. i'd like to know how everyone else does it.

photoshop.. maybe a quick mock up if interactivity is needed to be shown, other wise I just show stills with any drop downs whatever showing kinda like a storyboard.

i do visuals in photoshop and then interaction models in flash with no visual skin on it (ie ugly).
I'll get them signed off seperately.

and that's only if the interaction is unusual, otherwise straight jpegs.

prototype... clients always like something they can believe in.

agreed with prototype comment. clients do want something they can "feel and touch" so to speak.
so do some jpeg's for what you believe is the layot and do a 'functionality' mockup/demo. doesn't have to be perfect. just so client see's 'ah, thats what you meant by the menu being draggable" "ooo, so the pictures load from a folder?" "neat so all i have to do is edit the xml page and the flash changes? cool." those are comments you'll get.
remember, it doesn't have to be perfect in the least bit (in regards to the prototype) just show funtionality. just try to be precise with your jpeg's.

i make a mock up in photoshop, but when i present, i link certain layers together... like draggable windows. so it has the "feel" of interactivity, but not really. as for rollovers, just more layers, (default, over, or down if needed)

thanks very much.
interesting to see the variety of methods people use...
anyone else?

I gouge the comp into my arm with a rusty tuna can lid.
