Do these built in Firewalls give much protection from people getting into your computer, spyware, etc. My brothers computer running XP is riddled with spyware. Im going to turn on the firewall tonight. I just heard about it.

Limewire and Kazaa are the worst for spyware, I dont think running apps locally will be protected by any firewall
get ad aware and run it nightly, saves my pc daily

the better solution is not to use shitty software.
i don't run a personal firewall on xp (not even the native one), i've never used kazaa or anything like that and i don't have any problems with spyware.
i've ran a spyware killer app before, nothing.
a clean desktop environment is a happy one.

get like norton firewall, dont' use the xp one. it sucks and sometimes if you can't get a network to work, it's because of that.

they have a very small, unintrusive personal firewall listed there.

software firewalls are typically pretty weak. Need tighten up your security at the router.
Ideally dont install kazaa. Need to format and reinstall the OS to clean it up completely. I hear that the spyware is getting into the bios now. Bad mojo indeed

My Mac has zero spyware. I thought it was because most people go after Windows and don't bother writing a Mac verion of their spyware apps.
