Excuse me? Microsoft does inhouse design so of course they use Apple computers? What kind of BS is that? I guess I have to say this again... the ONLY reason Macs have a reputation for being better for graphics is because when home computers were just starting to take off, Macintoshes were the only computers to include a video card. That's it. Adobe posted a report on how their software runs better on PC than Mac, which was shortly taken down because of the huge commotion it caused in the Mac community (http://news.com.com/2100-1045-9... I guarantee that Microsoft does all inhouse work on Windows-based machines. I work at a design firm which is Mac and PC based. The design department is 50% Mac, 50% PC. It's a mutual decision to convert the entire office to PC because of all the problems with the Macintosh platform we have.

I think ya'll (as well as slashdot) are turning this into a mac vs. pc issue and I don't see it as such. I don't think Microsoft gives a sh!t about the content of the photo but the circumstances around it being taken. In theory, it is a security issue...I think firing the guy was a little much but if he was a contractor, it makes total sense.

The whole thing has nothing to do with security.
Its the age old game of Apple vs. PC.
I know all apple assholes never admit taht a PC can do certain things much better and PC assholes do the.
Its all a power struggle and has nothing to do with teh actual fact. Microsoft does not want images like that out because of the bad PR for them...and they used this poor sap as an example to the rest f the workers...trying to make the point, that if anybody emberasses them like that they are gone, no ifs and buts.
Its all as childish as Democrats and Republicans....why do you think they never get anything passed in congress, because its a bi partisen system just like apple and mircosoft...its not about making things better for the people, its about "I am right....no I am right..." etc etc etc like little kids.
I use both systems to work, simply because print is great with the Mac and Web design is much better with the PC, and I always get shit about that...hey I am just using what works best for me, cause at teh end of the day, its not stubbornness what gets the job done but my ability to use the bets mnost efficient tools for the job.

this is not a 'i bet they use macs'
it's a "i know specifically that they use macs because i have been on campus and SEEN them and also heard first hand from several people about it'And if you knew anything about print design you would know that a vast majority of designers still use Macs for print.
I work at the largest design firm in the northwest (80+ people) and not a single designer I know here uses a PC.
(yes, developers and accounting use PCs)Windows is SHIT for typography, font management and PostScript support. Period.
And as for benchmarks - everyone knows that benchmarks dont' mean shit for getting things done in a production environment.
It doesn't matter if you can apply guassian blur 2x faster if it takes 2 hours to get a file to rip on a postscript printer correctly.But maybe you're just stirrin' the shit.
