Does anyone know about what level of degree or what field of degree you need to teach the following things (any or all):
Elementary Art
High School Art / Design (or gen. computers)
Community College Art / Design

You need a teaching certificate to teach in high/public/private schools, you should have a masters degree to teach college, but that's up to the school really. If you can prove extensive experience, they might let you slide.
Teaching cert is a 1 1/2 yr program, my gf is currently going for Art Ed.

Are there any good sites or resources for finding out about open positions in these fields? (how many how often etc)

you know, it really depends on where you are located and the need/desperation for good teachers.
i have been teaching design/photography/web to high school youth for the past year, but just quit.
watch out for non-profits, they are crazzy!
but the students...oh they are amazing.
please take a look at my students' self portraits. they worked on this for less than 2 months a few hours each week, and it was their FIRST TIME USING ILLUSTRATOR!
9th-11th graders. i'm totally amazed.

Elementary Art and HS Art you would at least need a BA/BS with a specialization in either teaching or a State certification in teaching. For CC type stuff you need to have a MS degree in art or something close to it.

someone i know recently graduated with a b.a. in graphic design. they spent a year working as a waitress while looking for a job as a designer - but couldn't get one, and couldn't land a paid internship either.
they've just scored a job at a major university - teaching.
and not just in the design dept, but have been given the role of teaching a class called 'real world application of your design degree' and have been put as a sort of guidance councilor for graduates on how to find work...
i know the saying is sometimes true: "those who can't, teach" ... but this is just a bit ridiculous and pretty unfair to the students.
- yikes ... the students will find out, toomonospaced

I'm a professional and I work as an adjunct and i teach a night class at my old Alma Mater. I need 5 years of experience before I can teach a class however I can only teach 2 classes a semester. However if I want to teacher more I need a MFA and to become full time staff I'll need a PHD. Mind you this is in New Jersey and some universities may require different levels of degrees but that how it is where I am. I never plan on teaching more than 2 classes because with work during the day then doing the classes at night plus freelance = no life except the weekends...
