It's gonna be the standard LCD for apple for a while right?
No new models coming out for the g5's?

i'll never teeelllllllllll (scary britney murphy voice) actually, who the hell knows.
the 23 kicks ass, HD yo. too bad i couldn't fit it.
no matter what you do or what you get, there's always going to be something bigger and badder.
do it up, the G5 dual is quite fast, so is Panther.

Yeah, this is a bit off topic, but I just want to say--I'm on a dualie now and it was fast before Panther. Panther performance increase is VERY noticeable. Like, I had to iron out a bunch of problems with font book, safari, and iChat--so it was a bitch--but now that everything is up and running properly, I'm really happy. Expose is the handiest feature in an OS ever. Oh, btw--the 23 is great, but it's not as bright as the 20. I'm on a 20 now and it's enough real estate to last me a LONG time. And you always have the option of a dual monitor setup if you need the room.
That said, there have been rumblings of an Apple 30 inch for January. Actually, it's been in the rumor mill for awhile now, but I'd imagine the screens are going to be redesigned eventually. Though, Apple keeps releasing new products with the white plastic (like the wireless keyboards) so god only knows.
Dunno if you're looking into a purchase or not, but luck. :)

30"... is this for real.
I'm was planning on buying a 23" in january.... would i be wasting my time??
Should I wait a little longer in anticipation for a large screen. 30" is massive.

i don't think they are for a while.
I'm now looking at other brands. Samsung and Sony LCDs look nice.

As far as I know, the 23" Cinema is the same technology as years ago. Still nice, but not as nice as the Sony 23".
I'd look at Sony, and Samsung and Viewsonic, have nice ones, too.
LG has a great 23incher, as well.Apples has to come out with something soon, of they will get left behind.

I just bought the 20" Cinema Display and I just love it! There is no monitor that's in the same class as that one ... not Sony, not ViewSonic ...no one!
Believe me, ive shopped for 3 months before making my mind up and the crisp and sharp display of the Cinema Display is the best out there!
But beware of the 23" .. its been made one year before the 20" and thus utilizes an older technology ... one of my friend has the 17" and a 23" and they dont look as sharp and white .. they have a blueish feel to it and i dont really like it!
My 2 Cent!

i'm tired of the same acryllic look... i hope they come out with something new soon.

I looked at the 20", but then went for the LaCie photon20vision
about same price as Apple20"
1600x1200
3 year warranty
screen swivels 90degrees (not supported in OSX)
but mainly because of the desk clamp system, and thin bezel, which means if I can afford a second one of these, the two screens are very close together (Apple displays have huge frames, and the fixed angle means you can't sit them tight against each other)
- ribit0
oh and it has dual input (switchable on the front), DVI and ADC in.
- ribit0
sorry... DVI and VGA in.
ADC to DVI adapter included.
