thx alot
now..... whats the difference between solid / process and coated and uncoated..
which chips should i buy as a starter?
noob here

I would get the standard formula guide, coated/uncoated.
then work your way in (solid to process, metallic, etc...) they are pricey, but worth the buy

dink, you're not a noob. but i'll answer anyway, solid is a specified Pantone® color based on their formulae etc. Process is a CMYK blend that matches a specific PMS color, coated refers to the PMS color when applied to coated paper, and the same with uncoated. If you get the coated, uncoated, matte swatch books, you can see how the color will be on the those three types of substrates making it easier for you to choose the right color for your project. hope this helps.
