powerbook !!!?

im thinking about asking for a powerbook for xmas, but i dunno if i should go ahead and do it, or wait until apple might come out with some sort of g5 laptop / powerbook type thing? when do you guys predict this will happen also what do you think i should do ? this is a dilema indeed...

unless you do high-end 3d modeling or run any memory/processor intensive apps, i think a g4 might suit your needs...
that said, the g5 might get a totally new cosmetic overhaul at which point you're waiting for a totally different reason. in my opionion, as far as performance is concerned, if you really need it that bad, get a desktop.

ok, not to rain on you or anything, but honestly, there will always be updates to computer. With apple, it's inevitable.
second, have you looked at a g5? Technically speaking, i'm fairly sure that the g5 is fairly far off into the future for a laptop. (ie: NOT xmas).
my advice: get what you need now, macs always have a good resale value. after all, it's only a tool and if you're doing really heavy work on a laptop and NEED the power, get a desktop instead.

you've got a year according to all the reports, so if you can wait, plan on waiting 1.5 years, because the first version will have bugs that the 4-6 month later version will fix.
So, if you've got time, wait.
