Are 3D interfaces dead?

as i was walking to the trash to throw away my oj bottle, i was reminded of the praystation presentation at bd4d ...
he has this sort 3D file structure thing that goes back in Z, pretty nice ....

No, but used badly. It's easy to over-design them. And I think "3D interfaces" has a bad ring to it - but prove me wrong. Make something neat! :)

3D interfaces does have a repulsive ring to it. Still at a loss for a better term though.

That gecko thing looks nice, but what piggish perfomance. I couldn't even figure out how to use it. Back to the action script for them. More, like back to the storyboard.

dpends whether it is proper 3d coded or lame pre-rendered shite that is a lifeless as a lifeless thing

surely 'proper' 3D is in 3 dimensions like a telly or something solid. Stuff on the screen is a 2D illusion of 3D.
But i know what you mean, and yes, I think so, for the time being.
PS, some of you might want to add pedantic designers to the 'what pisses you off' thread.
