i thought i figured out how to have perfect text in flash - by aligning any word to (value).0 - but then i discovered that this doesn't work accross the board-somewhere else on my page it looks perfect aligned to .7 [for example].this is taking up so much of my time - shifting fonts up 1 then down 1. Is there no mercy? i just want crisp fonts. does ANYONE know how to fix this once and for all? or am i fighting a losing battle?

don't even do it, just use fonts that work automatically, there are a bunch of threads on this, use the search button :)

You can use any font and not worry about it's position.
If you use verdana say and make sure it's dynamic text. It will look fat until you eport your movie. It will look just like html text. Make sure you don't select "reneder as html" , "selectable" and "Show border".
The only drawback is that dynamic text won't do certain tweens linke changing color or transparent tweens. And if you are going to use dynamic text for navigation, you need to make a bottom layer in your button that's will act as a "hit" area.
Good thing is, you can use any font......

i thought the whole thing about dynamic text is that it uses system fonts--->so if the person doesn't have font on machine then it will show as arial, sans or whatever. if i am wrong about this then i am soooo ampt!!!!!???

Dynamic or Input text fields have the option of embedding or not. If you don't embed, then you get non anti-aliased fonts.
